Current Project
Project 1: UA Unity Hub
Next-generation, net-zero centres for rural and remote communities in Ukraine
Project Overview
Building resilient communities through smarter, cleaner infrastructure
UA Unity Hub is a UK-Ukraine collaboration developing a low-carbon, autonomous community hub for rural and remote areas of Ukraine.
The first demonstrator will be developed at the Tepla Gora Eco Centre in the Carpathian Mountains, combining sustainable construction, renewable energy and intelligent control technologies to create a resilient and inclusive community space.
Programme: Innovate Ukraine Round 2, Supporting Ukraine's Energy Recovery
Project Type: Industrial research
Duration: 24 Months
Demonstrator Site: Tepla Gora Eco Centre, Carpathian Mountains, Ukraine
The Challenge
- Rural and remote communities in Ukraine face significant challenges from damaged infrastructure, unstable energy supply and inefficient public buildings.
- The project explores how resilient community spaces can remain comfortable and operational while reducing dependence on vulnerable central energy infrastructure.
The Solution
- UA Unity Hub brings together modular geodesic construction, low-carbon materials, renewable energy, sensory systems, and intelligent energy management within a single integrated building concept.
- The aim is to create a solution that is energy-efficient, rapidly deployable and adaptable for future communities.

Integrated Innovation

Low-Carbon Structure
Geodesic design with bio-based insulation to reduce material use, heat loss and whole-life environmental impact.

Renewable Energy
Solar PV, heat pumps and energy storage to support efficient, resilient and autonomous operation.

Intelligent Energy Control
Al-based control coordinates heating, storage and building conditions to improve energy performance and comfort.

Inclusive Community Design
Flexible and accessible spaces support learning, recovery, creativity and social inclusion for all.
